Meet the owners

Rich & Tina Sumampow

The Blind Biz, LLC is a Michigan-based business, family owned by Rich Sumampow. Since starting in 2002, The Blind Biz has doubled in size almost every year. Rich handles every aspect of the business, from the initial call to the installation and beyond.

Rich grew up in Gaylord, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan State with a degree in advertising. After working for the family blind business, he learned everything about window treatments and has grown The Blind Biz into one of the most referred window treatment businesses in Metro Detroit.

In July 2011 he married the love of his life, Tina. Together they enjoy life and have fun with their three kids.

Our story

A family business working in Sterling Heights homes

The Blind Biz has helped Metro Detroit homeowners choose and install window treatments since 2002, and Sterling Heights and the rest of Macomb County have been part of our area from the beginning. We chose not to open a showroom. Instead, we bring full-size samples and sample books to your home, so you can see each fabric, finish and slat against your own walls and floors and in your own light.

That keeps our overhead low. We don’t pay showroom rent or decorator commissions, and we don’t hand installations to subcontractors. The savings go into your price, which is why we can offer the best value in Metro Detroit, guaranteed.

Today we carry 11 product lines, including Hunter Douglas, where we are an authorized dealer, and Norman Window Fashions, where we are a certified partner. The way we work hasn’t changed: free laser measuring, an itemized quote on the spot and free professional installation by our own team.
